A little background about Lake Willoughby:
Lake Willoughby is a glacial lake over 300 feet deep in places, the deepest lake in the state of Vermont. The lake is known for its clarity and chilly temperature. The view of "the gap" from the north beach is amazing with Mount Pisgah on the left and Mount Hor rising up on the right. There are also a couple myths about the lake, the first is that there is a sea monster named Willy that lives in the lake and the second myth somehow relates to Crystal Lake (another lake in the area). I'll have to refresh my memory on that myth so stayed tuned...
